Oedema

Swelling from fluid accumulation in tissues.

Definition

Oedema is visible tissue swelling from fluid leaking from blood vessels. Mild ankle oedema is common on long flights or in heat. Persistent or asymmetric swelling can indicate heart failure, kidney disease, venous insufficiency, or (one-sided) a DVT.
